有一句大学足球的名言是:
"In the East, college football is a cultural exercise. On the West Coast, it is
a tourist attraction. In the Midwest, it is cannibalism. But in the South,
college football is a religion, and every Saturday is a holy day."
NCAA football在中西部跟南部是一种狂热的运动,球场动辄容纳8万到10万人. 这些人一场
球下来的消费就不知道多少. 加上一年到头不断的卖各式各样的周边商品,想不赚钱都难.
而我猜测在算球队收入的时候没有算进校友的捐款. 因为校友捐款支票是开给学校,金额会
被算进学校整体的募款额度里. 像USC的校友会是有名的势力庞大,前几年盖的篮球场Galen
Center就是校友Louis Galen捐了五千万美金生出来的. Oaklahoma State的足球场Boone
Pickens Stadium也是能源大亨Boone Pickens买单的. 这些金额都不会被算在体育部的营
收里.
