me and the little people it happened one night last summer. i feel asleep in a fairy rath, that is, in the grass in the park on west 48th and 9th avenue. the way it goes is that if you fall asleep in one of these raths and the little ones play their music for your dreams, you live in their enchantment for your whole life, losing all of your own human cares and joys. any- way, that's what hap- pened. they played a song for me in my guitar style, and, for a moment when i woke up i was indeed their enchanted prisoner. but, there is one way out. the stories say that if you become entrapped you can break the spell by lulling the fairies to sleep before you leave the rath. so that's what i had to do. i played in their style, wilder and wilder. it made them dance until they dropped in exhaustion. i sneaked out unenchanted and am here to tell you about it. honest to god, it's true.
