Ajax improve and extend contract with Johnny Heitinga
Amsterdam, August 05, 2004
Ajax have reached agreement with Johnny Heitinga about
extending and improving his current contract on Thursday.
That contract ran to July 2007 and has now been extended
to July 2008.
Heitinga has been under contract with Ajax since 1 July
2000 and has played 42 league matches for the club.
After one season in the second team, Heitinga made his debut
in Ajax 1 on 26 August 2001 under coach Co Adriaanse.
The real breakthrough for the player from Alphen aan
de Rijn came last season under coach Ronald Koeman.
The defender had a very good year and made three goals
for the first team of Ajax.
His achievements earned him a selection
for the Dutch national team last season.
The popular Ajax player has played nine matches for Holland
with one goal.
