WORLD CUP STAR JOINS BLACKBURN Rovers have today completed the signing of Dutch international Andre Ooijer from PSV Eindhoven. An undisclosed fee was agreed with PSV for the 32 year-old defender yesterday, and after completing medical formalities Ooijer has signed a two-year deal with the club having an option for a third?with the Ewood Park side. After being part of his hometown youth setup with Ajax Amsterdam, Ooijer started his career on loan with FC Volendam and quickly impressed to earn himself a permanent move to Roda JC, he stayed with the Kerkrade based club for three seasons before moving onto PSV in 1997. Able to play at right back or at the heart of the defence, Ooijer made over 200 appearances for PSV and has represented the Netherlands on more 20 occasions, including this summer's World Cup in Germany. Andre Ooijer becomes Mark Hughes' fifth summer signing joining Jason Brown, Francis Jeffers, Jason Roberts and Benni McCarthy at the club.
