Former Bolton boss Allardyce was given the opportunity to apply for the national job by Reebok Stadium chairman Phil Gartside, but the Magpies appear keen to retain the services of a man they only appointed this summer. Honoured When asked if would be interested in the post, Allardyce told Sky Sports News: "No, because I'm contracted to Newcastle United, and from my point of view that contract needs to be honoured. "I'm not in the position like I was at my old club where the chairman openly extended the invitation for me to go for the position. I'm not in that position now."
