The Denver Nuggets are streaking toward the NBA playoffs under new
coach George Karl. They have caught the Lakers for the last playoff spot and
face an easier schedule - fewer winning teams, more home games - than any of
the other teams in contention, chiefly Minnesota and Los Angeles.
