I'd quit drugs but instead of a bag of Charlie I had a pocketful of prescription uppers and downers from the doctor. I was so uninspired about making music. I was doing it for all the wrong reasons—for the sake of it. Only the lyrics[on Standing on the Shoulder of Giants] came from a place of truth. Gas Panic!—I was having serious panic attacks from the drugs. Where Did It All Go Wrong? is the true story of me sitting there going,"Who renamed this house? Remind me again...” And with the band, all the hangers-on we had. They were just drug buddies. I didn't know anybody, nobody knew me. The lyrics were fucking brilliant. There's songs that I nail and think they are really fucking brilliant. If I had to sit down for the next album and write 12 for the record, two for the B-sides of each single, that's 18—I wouldn't know where to start. I like Liam's stuff. Gem and Andy have flashes of brilliance...I think it's important for them [to write]. Not that I want to sound like I'm throwing them crumbs... Gem 和 Andy 究竟带给整个团什麽东西？ They came late, but fuck me, it was like the cavalry riding over the hill. Gem's like me, he works backwards from the band. Me and him would drive it along at all costs because we know how to find drummers when we need one, how to rehearse the band. Liam...He's constantly thinking about what shoes to buy. Or developing new techniques for balancing that fucking tambourine on his head. Great, off you go. Andy? I think he sees himself as a bit of a Bill Wyman character. Sometimes I look at him onstage and think,"Is he actually moving?" If I didn't hear a sound coming out of a bass, I'd think that Kraftwerk had put one of their robots there. I'll walk across and he'll go, "What a gig!" Fucking hell, man, you need a rocket up your arse. 「他们加入的算晚，但干，真是有如重装部队支援，轻骑过关的感觉。Gem比较像我， 是从乐团的幕後做到幕前[Noel在加入Oasis之前曾经当过Inspiral Carpets的巡回器材 人员数年]。我们两个会尽全力让整个团好好运作，去哪里找合适的鼓手， 怎麽练团比较好之类的。至於Liam...他就是不断在想着要买哪一双鞋，或者研发 如何让他妈的铃鼓平衡的站在头上的技术，好啊，你就继续这麽搞啊。Andy的话， 我觉得他把自己看作滚石合唱团继任的贝斯手Bill Wyman那样，帮整个团加分但是依旧 比较像是个局外人。有时候我在台上看着他，会想说“他真的有在动吗？”如果不是 听见贝斯发出声音，我可能会认为是那个德国电子乐团Kraftwerk帮我们放了一台机器人 在那里哩。这时候我会走过去他那边，然後他才会开口说，"不可思议的一场演唱会!" 他妈的拜托，老兄，你是不是需要在屁股装个火箭或者引擎啊。」 (附上当年 Noel 还是 roadie 的拙样哈!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1XuVDvn770 To be continued... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cheers!
