Andy McPhail, the club's general manager, is at the helm for another disastrous showing in the win-loss column. Cowherd adds: "The Orioles have the worst record (15-39) in baseball. They've lost eight straight games, 10 of 11, and 15 of 18, including yesterday's crushing 6-3 loss to the New York Yankees and a three-game sweep in the Bronx." All of those signs point to some semblance of pressure on McPhail, who is in year four of the team's rebuilding process. There are some nice pieces in place, and the farm system is considered solid, particularly in the pitching department, but the big-league club is still bad. Injuries haven't helped the Orioles this season, losing a few key players to the disabled list, but it's difficult to believe that Brian Roberts and Mike Gonzalez would make a 12-win difference in one-third of a season -- which is what would be necessary to get the O's current record to .500 status.
