Magic name four assistant coaches August 12, 2004 ORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) - Orlando Magic coach Johnny Davis continued filling out his staff Thursday, naming Clifford Ray, Morlon Wiley, Ron Ekker and Chris Jent as assistants. The four join Paul Westhead on Davis' staff. "We considered it important to find coaches which complemented Johnny's talents," Magic general manager John Weisbrod said. "With these additions, we feel we have accomplished that objective and are excited to move forward as a team." ADVERTISEMENT A 1971 third-round pick of Chicago, Ray appeared in 784 regular-season games during a 10-year career, averaging 7.4 points and 8.9 rebounds. He previously has served as an assistant with Cleveland and Golden State. Wiley was the first player ever signed by the Magic on June 29, 1989. He played three seasons for Orlando, averaging 4.4 points in 83 games. Ekker brings more than 35 years of coaching experience to Orlando. He comes to the Magic after serving as an assistant with the Cavaliers. Jent joins the Magic after spending the 2003-04 season with the Philadelphia 76ers as assistant coach for player development.
