By Scott Church Welcome Suns fans to this weeks look at the team. If you haven’t realized it yet, the Suns are not going to make the playoffs. The team has been struggling with injuries to Amare Stoudamire and Zarko Cabarkapa has not regained the shooting touch he showed before Danny Fortson pushed him down and broke his wrist. Howard Eisley and Jahidi White will be shipped out of town as soon as the Suns can find someone to take them for an expiring contract. The Suns are trying to clear cap room and both these guys are signed past this season and so they must go. White is signed for one more year for around 6 mil while Eisley is signed for three more years after this one. One trade that could happen is trading White to Boston for Chris Mills, whose contract ends at the end of the year. This deal works under the cap, would give Boston a big guy under the basket, and could really help them out. This would give the Suns the added cap room that they wanted. Not only that but the Suns could then potentially get the Bobcats to take Eisley in the Expansion draft, giving the Suns lots of room to maneuver. He has scored 65 points in two games since returning from anankle injury. He led the league in scoring last year and would be a great addition to the Suns. Barbosa and Vujanic playing PG and SG, nailing just about every three they put up. Amare wants his toe totally healed before he plays again. This gives Casey Jacobsen even more of a chance to prove himself. I hope that he will continue to play good defense as he did in the T’Wolves game. The only thing he needs to do is hit the threes that he takes. The think that will probably happen before the trade deadline is that the Suns will trade Googs to Utah. A lot of people have been asking me why so I’m going to go into it a little deeper than normal. Take that away and the payroll goes down to around 48 mil. Add Keon Clark’s 5-mil contract and it goes back up to 53 mil. Since both players contract is over at the end of the season, it saves the Suns 7 mil this year and then double that for the luxury tax, so the Suns would save a lot - though the Suns would still pay him for how long he has been with the team so far this year. The Suns would still go down to the 48 mil at the end of the season and the Jazz would go down to around 8.5 mil in contracts for next season. That is why the Suns would do it and Utah might just do it because the team needs some size and Googs could actually start at PF for the Jazz.
