The Pirates claimed Beck off waivers in October from the Blue Jays. Pittsburgh had to make a 40-man move after the Joel Hanrahan trade sent two players out and brought four players in. The soon-to-be 28-year-old had a 1.31 ERA with 4.5 K/9 and 2.4 BB/9 in 43 Triple-A relief appearances.
