Profar’s raw range numbers form 2010 to 2012 (no adjustments) were .775, .784 & .776 (15th, 13, 19) and after adjustments .792, .784, .766 (19th, 13, 23) so I’m confident saying he has average range and has shown consistent numbers. However, his out rate on infield grounders was .846, .872 & .837, maybe that 2011 was an outlier good year. He ranked 8th in Short Season in 2010 with .846, but 26th in Double-A in 2012 with .837. The rank might have been skewed by having a lot of sure handed shortstops in Double-A this past year. He has consistently been above average at turning DPs. Overall, +9 runs in 63 GS in 2010, +9 in 114 GS in 2011, -2 in 102 GS in 2012. I’d projected him being above average. Profar does well where it’s easy to see (sure handedness and DPs) with average range. Gregorius rates +22 runs in 474 GS at SS from 2008-2012, an average of +7.6/162. Again, over the year he’s average or slightly below on range, but plus on hands and DPs (where the strong arm aids) --
