Nothing is wrong with him physically, he's just been erratic and typically does better when it gets warmer. He would be a great pick at #9. 14.Nick Ciuffo, C, South Carolina HS All the pitching prospects lining up in the Pittsburgh system need someone to catch them. Ciuffo may be the best all around catcher in this class and could develop quicker than a lot of prep catchers because of his present skills. 太空人球迷 Anthony Boyer版 http://tinyurl.com/kgovq56 9.Austin Meadows, OF, Grayson HS (GA) Like Mark Appel last year, Meadows is a potential top pick who fell to the Pirates. Unlike Appel, he doesn't have a lot of signability questions. The Pirates love tools, and Meadows has them in spades. He's a talented hitter, athletic enough to cover center field, and enough arm and bat in case he gets moved to a corner. The Pirates have a lot of really good young arms, and this gives them an opportunity to stock the farm with a really nice young hitter. 14.John Paul Crawford, SS, Lakewood HS (CA) When this draft began, the Pirates were hoping that Crawford would be available to them at 9th overall. The fact that Meadows fell meant they had to break from this plan, but then Crawford falls to them at 14, anyway. They have to be ecstatic with this first round - two toolsy guys who provide good-to-excellent defense up the middle. Crawford has a potentially game-changing toolset, and could develop into a very good defensive shortstop. Thrilled. There's no other way to put it. --
