Thought I'd share a few morsels of information I got from talking to John
at the Swahili Blonde show last night. John was very welcoming and generous
to everyone who approached him. He was standing in the back with Nicole,
so I told them they put on a great show that felt reminiscent of the spirit of
Talking Heads. John said that's how they liked to think of it as well. I then
informed him the Empyrean was a masterpiece. He grinned, agreeing with
my assessment.
我要分享我在昨晚Swahili Blonde的演出後，与John的一些谈话。
John对每个过去找他的人都十分欢迎且大方。
他与Nicole站在後面，我告诉他们，他们的演出相当精采，
让人想起Talking Heads的精神。John说这就是他们想传达的。
接着我说"Empyrean"真是一张神作。John笑了，对我的看法表示认同。
I asked if he had any new solo albums in the works. I'm going to be
paraphrasing here, but basically he said that he'd been percolating ideas
about what he wanted to express and that he finally knows what he wants
to explore. He also said that he's been active in Speed Dealer Moms still,
which is good news since I don't think we'd heard anything about them
since the ATP festival disappointment. He said they have about 4 CD's of
material which they are considering releasing, possibly even at the price
of a single CD.
我问他，是否有在制作新的单曲。我只能大概诠释他所说的内容，
但基本上，他说他还在过滤那些他想表达的以及最终他想探索的东西的灵感。
他也说，他还是有跟Speed Dealer Moms一起活动，
这真是个好消息，自从ATP festival後就再也没听说相关的消息了。
他说，他们有四张CD的素材想要发表，可能会是一张单曲CD的价格。
John mentioned that he always has tons of material, and I asked if
he ever considered releasing some of it online the way Omar does.
He said that at present he has no plans to do so, that he's more
interested in creating records that stand alone as a single statement,
that find a way to take different songs (and withing songs, different bars)
that cover different territory but ultimately come back into a single idea.
It was pretty cool to listen to him talk about his creative process
in such a casual way.
John也提到，他拥有太多灵感了，
而我也问他是否考虑像Omar一样，发表一些放在网路上。
他说目前没有这样的计画，他最感兴趣的还是录制专辑，好传达一种讯息，
然後找方法创作不同的歌曲(以及不同的编曲)，
可以涵盖不同的领域，但最终都将回归到相同的目的。
能够听他这样随意地说着自己的创作思维实在是很酷的一件事。
