Proposal for World Cup Qualification format changes
提案:改革世界盃资格赛赛制
I'm considering changing the format for the world cup qualifier in future
editions. We now use the European system for all continents, but it doesn't
really work for most other continents.
维尼熊正在考虑改革世界盃资格赛赛制。
RS现行赛制，所有大洲都采欧洲系统(European System)，
但是这套系统对大部分的大洲都不实用。
When we have some more time to program this I'd like to implement a custom
format for each continent based on the number of countries and the number of
tickets for the world cup.
如果有时间，根据每个大洲的国家数量和世界盃席次数量，
维尼熊计画建置每个大洲专属的赛制。
These are the idea's I have now. I want to keep the maximum number of rounds
at 12 and avoid group rounds where only the winner advances. Would love to
hear feedback before we start to work on this.
维尼熊现在的想法 :
1. 最多12轮，和现行赛制相同。
2. 避免小组阶段(group rounds)只取一队(小组第一)晋级。
开始运作前，维尼熊希望听到更多意见反馈。
Europe (13 tickets, 54 countries):
Not much would change. I do want to change the playoff places to correspond
to the real life situation: all group winners qualify and the best 8 numbers
2 proceed to playoffs.
欧洲 (13席、54国)
不会有太大变化。维尼熊想调整附加赛轮(playoff)赛制，以符合实际情况。
- 所有小组赛第一名直接晋级世界盃
- 8队较佳第二名晋级附加赛轮
Asia (6 tickets, 46 countries):
1st round would be 12 groups of 4 or 3 teams (10 times 4 and 2 times 3
teams). All winners and numbers two would advance to the next round.
2nd round would be 6 groups of 4 teams. All 6 group winners qualify for the
world cup. Asia would lose one ticket and go from 7 to 6 tickets, .
亚洲 (6席、46国)
第一轮
- 分12小组，每组3或4队 (10个小组4队、2个小组3队)
- 小组第一和第二晋级下一轮
第二轮
- 分6组，每组四队
- 小组第一直接晋级世界盃
亚洲目前7席，应该减一席到6席
South America (4 tickets, 13 countries):
13 countries now which is not ideal. The weakest 2 countries on ranking would
start with a playoff match.
This would leave 12 countries, playing in 2 groups of 6 countries. The
winners and numbers two qualify. If the world cup would be hosted in south
america then the first round would not be necessary.
南美 (4席、13国)
- 13国这个数量不完美，排名较差的两国先打一轮淘汰赛轮。
- 剩下12国、分2组，每组六国。
小组第一和第二直接晋级世界盃。
- 如果南美国家举办世界盃，不踢前导附加赛轮。
North America (3 tickets, 36 countries):
First round would be 9 groups of 4 teams. 24 teams advance to the next round
(9 winners, 9 numbers 2 and 6 numbers 3)
Second round would be a knockout round with 24 teams (seeded based on group
results)
Third round would be a knockout round with 12 teams (seeded on ranking)
Fourth round would be a knockout round with 6 teams (seeded on ranking)
The 3 winners from round four qualify for the world cup.
北美 (3席、36国)
第一轮
- 分9组、每组4队。
- 共24队晋级下一轮，分别是所有的小组第一和第二，以及六个较佳小组第三。
第二轮
- 采淘汰赛。
- 根据第一轮小组赛结果决定种子序。
第三轮
- 共12队，采淘汰赛。
- 根据国家排名决定种子序。
第四轮
- 共六队，采淘汰赛。
- 根据国家排名决定种子序。
- 三个淘汰赛获胜球队晋级世界盃。
Africa (4 tickets, 55 countries):
First round would be 14 groups of 3 or 4 countries (13x4 + 1x3). 32 teams
advance to the next round (14 winners, 14 numbers two and 4 numbers three)
Second round would be a knockout round with 32 teams (seeded based on group
results)
Third round would be a knockout round with 16 teams (seeded on ranking)
Fourth round would be a knockout round with 8 teams (seeded on ranking)
The 4 winners from round four qualify for the world cup.
非洲 (4席、55国)
第一轮
- 分14组、每组3-4队 (13*4 + 1*3)
- 取32队晋级下一轮，分别是所有小组冠军和小组第二、以及4个较佳小组第三。
第二轮
- 共32队，采淘汰赛。
- 根据第一轮成绩决定种子序。
第三轮
- 共16队，采淘汰赛。
- 根据国家排名决定种子序。
第四轮
- 共8队，采淘汰赛。
- 根据国家排名决定种子序。
- 第四轮淘汰赛获胜球队晋级世界盃。
Oceania (1 ticket, 15 countries):
First round would be 4 groups of 3 or 4 countries (3x4 + 1x3). 8 teams
advance to the next round (all winners and numbers two).
Second round would be a knockout round with 8 teams (seeded based on group
results)
Third round would be a knockout round with 4 teams (seeded on ranking)
Fourth round would be a knockout round with 2 teams (seeded on ranking)
The winner from round four qualifies for the world cup.
大洋洲 (1席、15国)
第一轮
- 分4组，每组4队或3队 (3*4 + 1*3)
- 每小组第一和第二，共8队晋级第二轮
第二轮
- 共8队，采淘汰赛制，根据第一轮小组赛成绩决定种子序。
第三轮
- 共4队，采淘汰赛制，根据国家排名决定种子序。
第四轮
- 共2队，采淘汰赛制，获胜球队晋级世界盃。
This will not affect the tournaments that just started. They will keep the
format they currently have.
正在进行的世界盃资格赛还是采旧制，不会受到影响。
