According to various Italian media reports, including the website of La Gazetta dello Sport, the 21-year-old rookie became ill after practice yesterday and had the surgery overnight at a Toronto hospital. There is no official word from the Raptors on the surgery, or how long Bargnani will be sidelined. Recovery from an appendectomy can generally take between three weeks and a month; the NBA regular season ends April 18. The 7-footer had developed into a consistent offensive threat for the Raptors and one of the team's key contributors off the bench. In 64 games, he's averaging 11.5 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. The Raptors, who lead the Atlantic Division by 5 1-2 games over the New Jersey Nets, have 15 games left in the regular season.
