来源：http://tinyurl.com/yovoov The fickle finger of Deke: Rockets 94, Wizards 69. It was a night when the Rockets needed somebody to puncture the silence, break through the gloom. It came at end of a long day when they learned that Yao Ming was lost for the season with a stress fracture in his left foot, when it felt like all of the oxygen had been sucked out of their world. The Rockets needed a breath of fresh air. What they got was a 41-year-old center with more miles on him than the space shuttle. Same thing. Dikembe Mutombo. He's been playing basketball now since the days when Dr. Naismith was still climbing the ladder to take the ball out of the peach basket. （Dr. James Naismith是当年发明篮球的人...1891年 XD） But it never gets old. Twenty two seconds into an evening when the Rockets' heads were still spinning from the horrible news, Mutombo grabbed a loose ball and scored the game's first basket. Ninety seconds later, Washington's Antawn Jamison tried an 8-foot jump shot and Mutombo swatted it like a mosquito. Goaltending was the call. But message delivered. At the 6:59 mark of the first quarter, 6-11 Andray Blatche went into the lane for a layup and Mutombo shot it down the way the Defense Dept. did that satellite. Then Mutombo turned and he did the wag. He got out the famous finger and he shook it in Blatche's face again and again and again. ._.\~/ Technical foul. No matter. XD Five minutes into a night when they so desperately needed an emotional lift, Mutombo had launched the Rockets back into orbit. "It felt good," he said with that warm, wide, liquid smile. He is part Yoda, part warrior, mixing the wisdom of the elder statesman with the kind of passion and fire that can ignite even a rookie like Carl Landry. Mutombo was the first teammate that Yao had phoned on Monday night, when he learned the bad news. "(Yao) was just trying to find somebody to talk to and he wanted to talk to me, share with me what's going on," Mutombo said. "He's leaving all of this job to me to go and try to finish the season strong. "My response to him was 'Just go and take care of yourself and we're going to do what we have to do as teammates and as a team so that we don't disappoint you.' He came back for his 17th professional season at the urging of his children and he spent the first four months as a virtual hood ornanment, getting onto the court in just 15 games for a total of 113 minutes. Now the Rockets' season may be resting on his shoulders. A 12-game winning streak grew to 13 with the 94-69 thumping of the Wizards that he inspired. But how far can the Rockets go now? How much of that championship gleam that was forming in their eyes can stay alive? "That is still a question we still have to figure out how we're going to answer," Mutombo said. "Yao is a big part of this team. We love him so much and we miss him. "It's very painful right now to answer that question because he's not just a teammate. He's a good friend. This kid's been in the league more than 6 years and he wants to win so bad. He wants to win a championship. He has made all the All-Star teams and he just wants to go and play all the way to the end and see what it's like to win a championship. When you have these things happening to you, you just have to keep praying." The Rockets can all get down on their knees and hope that Tracy McGrady can catch some of the spark, the raging fire that burns inside their team elder. He doesn't create drama. He never makes excuses. Mutombo simply accepts his role on the team and delivers when he's needed. Which was last season when Yao was out for 32 games and he helped put together a 20-12 record. Which is now. "It's about being professional," Mutombo said. "You get paid to play basketball, even though you don't get the minutes. As long as you continue to ride your bike, lifting weights and do extra things in practice, you can be ready." The question now is: Could he make it to June? "I think so," Mutombo said. "There's a lot left in my tank for me to go and help the team finish the season strong. I don't see why not." Old hand. New hope. -- 老木魂 -- █ █ ███ █ █ █ ████ ████ ████ ████ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ ████ █ █ █ █ █ █ ██ █████ █ █████ █ █ █ Ｘ Japan THE LAST LIVE ▉▊▋▌▍▎▏ ~嘎 抓~ -- --
