Garko, 28, was batting .285 with 11 home runs and 39 RBIs in 79 games for Cleveland. His .826 OPS (on base-plus-slugging percentage) exceeded that of any Giants player except Pablo Sandoval. Garko bats and throws right-handed. Barnes, 21, owned a 12-3 record with a 2.85 ERA and 99 strikeouts in 98 innings for the Giants' San Jose affiliate.
