http://0rz.tw/WwBvR DeRosa lands on DL; Rowand, Wilson OK By Chris Haft / MLB.com | 05/19/11 11:03 PM ET LOS ANGELES -- The trio of Giants who sustained injuries Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers experienced no apparent surprises in their respective progress, which was bad for Mark DeRosa and good for Brian Wilson and Aaron Rowand. DeRosa's strained left wrist landed the utility man on the 15-day disabled list for the second time this season. Results of tests he underwent Thursday in San Francisco were not immediately available. Manager Bruce Bochy said that he spoke with DeRosa, who has undergone two surgeries on his afflicted wrist since October 2009. Predictably, Bochy said, DeRosa felt dejected about being sidelined at a point when he was beginning to play regularly at third base as Pablo Sandoval recovers from surgery to remove a fractured hamate bone in his right hand. "I feel awful for him," Bochy said. "He was going to get some playing time and now this happens." DeRosa, who signed a two-year, $12 million contract with San Francisco as a free agent before the 2009 season, has been limited to 44 games as a Giant by his wrist problems. Despite DeRosa's increased activity lately, his batting average had dwindled to .162 (6-for-37) with an 0-for-23 skid, the longest hitless streak of his career. Infielder Emmanuel Burriss, who already had served one stint with the Giants, was recalled from Triple-A Fresno to replace DeRosa on the active Major League roster. Wilson (left ankle) refused to admit after finishing Wednesday's 8-5 Giants victory that he had injured himself, though Bochy told reporters that the closer had stepped in a hole on the pitcher's mound and tweaked his ankle. Apparently, Wilson knew himself best. "He's fine," Bochy said of Wilson, who blew his second save opportunity of the season but earned the decision. "He says he's good to go. No worries with his ankle, so that's a plus for us." Rowand (back stiffness) took batting practice and underwent treatment, though Bochy was unsure whether the outfielder would be available to pinch-hit.
