标题[英中] 这句话，我的解读不知是否正确（心理语言学相关）

读paper的时候遇到了这句话
The evidence interpreted as reflecting a general slowing in children
with LI (language impairment) comes from regression procedures that show
the RTs (reaction time) of children with LI increasing linearly as a function
of the RTs of typically developing children across the same domains,
task, and conditions。
目前我的理解如下：
被认为是反应语言障碍儿童普遍反应慢的这些证据，是来自回归步骤
（可能应该说成是回归分析比较好？不知在「步骤」甚麽）
这种回归步骤显示语障儿童的反应时间会随着正常发展儿童的反应时间，
在同样的区域，作业，和条件下线性增加。
我的问题：
1. as a function不知道是甚麽意思，无法加进语句中
2. 写成中文好像也看不懂是甚麽意思。是哪里翻译或者是理解有误？
