看这篇的话，很直觉的猜，(也稍微综合参考前面的说法)
maintains只是等於像state一样，代表一种明确的表达，
(或许用来反对一下一般可能会以为的说法)
sometimes she runs us under the table，
就是:有时(简直)是由他在指挥我们，台面下啦
这句其实偏中性，但是正负面意见应该都有一点，
参照前句，该老年人很敬业，连带应该会管教其它员工，
有些人或许被感化到，但也难免会不爽。

用 run me under the table查，发现似乎有另一种用法，
应该是"(彻底)把我比下去"的意思...看起来更简单更贴切，
看来我前面是想像力太丰富了。 幸好有高手救援
