STEARNS: Do support United States lifting trade sanctions against Burma?
STEARNS: 支持美国解除缅甸贸易制裁?
ASSK: Yes I do because I think it's time we tried to stand on our own and
I've been very grateful to the United States for what they've done to help
the forces of democracy.
I think sanctions of helped us greatly. There have been many claims that
sanctions have hurt Burma economically, but I did not agree with that point
ofview. If you look at reports by the IMF, for example, they make quite clear
that the economic impact on Burma has not been that great.
But I think the political impact has been very great and that has helped us
in our struggle for democracy.
ASSK: 是的，我会。因为我认为是时候尝试坚持我们的立场，而且我非常感激美国做过帮
助民主的一切。
我认为贸易制裁帮助我们很多。这里有非常多声音宣称贸易制裁创伤了缅甸的经济，但我
不认同这个观点。假如你看到IMF的报导，举个例子：他们澄清经济不再是冲击缅甸最大
的原因。
但我认为政治已是影响缅甸最大的因素，以及那帮助我们为民主的奋斗。
小弟的问题出自於最後一段"that has helped us in our struggle for democracy"
这句子的that是指 sanction 还是 political impact?
感觉上我这样子翻成中文语意非常模糊不清
请教各位乡民高手解答 谢谢!
