My "MySQL" Windows service suddenly had a strange path. Here's how to get the service up and running again: Using the "windows command prompt" find your Mysql installation go to the bin directory and reinstall the windows service. Here's what I did: c: cd \mysql\bin mysqld --remove mysqld --install DO NOT open the windows "Services" admin tool at the same time or it will not work! ---- This error can also be caused by the windows firewall (depending on what you're doing, like running it manually from the prompt). Go to start/settings/copntrol panel/windows firewall. Click on the exceptions tab and make sure mysqld is ticked, you can also click edit change scope and set "my network only" os it has no internet access. --
