Though the Grammy Awards ceremony was held on the evening of Sunday, Feb. 8
(the final day of the tracking week reflected in today's Billboard 200
chart), the CBS broadcast still makes waves on this week's charts. Most gains
likely come as a result of download purchases on Sunday night after the show.
Robert Plant and Alison Krauss' album of the year winner "Raising Sand"
re-enters the Billboard 200 at No. 68 with 9,000 and a gain of 286%. Of its
nearly 7,000-unit gain, 79% of it came from downloads. The same story unfolds
with best new artist winner Adele and her "19" set. The album earns the
Billboard 200's biggest percentage increase (up 89% at No. 27) and of its
8,000-unit gain, 82% of it was made up of downloads. Next week we'll see the
full impact of the show on the charts.
