The 2012 half-year report published by the British music industry’s trade body, The BPI, reveals that the track has sold an impressive 1.1 million copies to date. Somebody That I Used To Know steadily climbed up the Official Singles Chart since its worldwide release last summer, knocking David Guetta FT’s Sia’ s Titanium off the top of the chart on February 12 of this year. It spent five non-consecutive weeks at Number 1. Another former Number 1 single, Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen, is in second place with sales of nearly 850,000, while David Guetta FT Sia’s Titanium is at Number 3 with sales of over 791,000. Nicki Minaj’s Starships is at Number 4 with sales of 678,000, while Fun. FT Janelle Monae’s We Are Young is at Number 5 with sales of over 672,000 copies.
