Tidying up the house. Between rounds of carrying recycling paper back and moving broken-down unused electronics forth, I spy a chess set, and make room for it in a dusty cabinet. I remove some BB guns, a pair of sais, three knives, a cat, a pikachu, and some literary trophy awards. Then I see it, in front of the bingo set, beside the lion hat: a white bunny rabbit. Standing, white and fluffy, its neck kept warm by a lush red scarf, its tummy showcasing a large pink heart---- it reminds me of its giver. In the coffee shop that day, among freezing air conditioning and even more annoying music, I sat in the corner, maybe writing a poem, when she arrived and canceled out that damn melody with her musical charm. She sat down beside me and pulled out a rabbit, a white, fluffy, standing bunny rabbit, its neck kept warm by a muffler red, a great pink heart on its abdomen. I bought it for my sister today, she said, but she doesn't want it, so now it's yours. And she gave it to me as a gift wholly gratuitous; she, who marveled at my weapons arsenal, who ridiculed me in my lion hat, who never held back her love-filled heart, who took joy in my lush red scarf; she gave it to me that day.
